ROSLYN, Dec. 5, 2014 — Residents in the 4th district are in need of constituent services, and state Senator-elect Art Haywood isn’t wasting any time providing them. Although he won’t officially take his oath of office until January, Senate leaders announced today that Haywood would begin providing constituent services on Monday, December 8th.

Under Senate rules, departing Senators end their terms Nov. 30. Although securing a permanent office is underway the incoming freshman has developed a plan to provide constituent services from temporary and mobile offices in the interim.

“I’m ready to begin giving residents the care and support they deserve,” Haywood said. “Pennsylvanians are struggling daily as a result of the careless Corbett agenda, and my office is ready to provide services to those in need as we join together to develop a community-based response to these challenges.”

Haywood, a former Cheltenham Township commissioner, was selected by voters in the Nov. 4 election to serve the 4th Senate District which includes Abington Township, Cheltenham Township, Jenkintown Borough, Rockledge Borough, and Springfield Township in Montgomery County as well as wards 9, 10 12, 17, 22, 50 and 59 in Philadelphia.

Haywood will begin providing services from a temporary office in the Roslyn Valley section of Abington on December 8th at 9 am. Following the start of his term on January 6th, he will hold constituent services hours in the Northwest Regional Library in Germantown on Wednesdays from noon until 4 p.m., and in the Abington Township Library on Fridays from noon until 4 p.m..

Haywood will continue these mobile hours even after he closes the Roslyn Valley office at the end of February, when he anticipates opening a permanent office in Philadelphia.
