Our Solutions: Online Educational Resources

It is a challenge to keep children interested in learning while schools are closed. Here are some of the top five online educational resources you can access to keep children active and informed:

  1. TED-Ed
  2. Simple Homeschool
  3. Reading Eggs
  4. Khan Academy

For more homeschooling resources, please visit Learning Liftoff’s website.

For those interested in higher education, there are online resources available at: https://www.businessinsider.com/free-online-courses-from-best-colleges or https://www.classcentral.com/collection/ivy-league-moocs.

Remote Session

Yesterday the Pennsylvania State Senate held an historic remote session online to vote on legislation. By unanimous vote, the Senate approved:ElectionDay June 2, 2020

  1. Extending the primary election date to 2 June,
  2. Relieving school districts of the 180 days of school requirement,
  3. Easing access to unemployment compensation and,
  4. Setting aside $50 million to support hospitals including equipment and supply purchases.

This is our first, but not last legislative response to the impact of COVID-19. This online session and future online sessions are required to reduce the spread of COVID-19. For further details on the legislative changes we passed, please contact my office at senatorhaywood@pasenate.com.

Stay at Home Activities for the Weekend

Staying at home and practicing social distancing does not have to be as difficult when you have fun activities to do. Here are three ideas for weekend fun my staff will be doing.

  1. Listening to DJ D-Nice, Questlove, or Matthew Law’s music streams on Spotify or Instagram
  2. Trying a new recipe
  3. Video conferencing with loved ones on Zoom, FaceTime, and WhatsApp

We will share more fun stay at home activities with you via e-news and social media. We encourage you to do the same or share your stay at home activities with us through appropriate photos and short videos either on social media or through email at senatorhaywood@pasenate.com.

Please be safe, be healthy, and STAY HOME.

Be the Light,

Art Haywood
