Haywood: Governor Wolf Protects Pennsylvania’s Most Vulnerable Citizens with Line-Item Veto and Release of Emergency Funds

State Senator Art Haywood issued the following statement after Governor Wolf line-item vetoed a House Republican budget passed in the Senate on 23 December:

HARRISBURG, 29 December 2015: “Today, Governor Wolf issued a line-item veto protecting Pennsylvanians from a disastrous House Republican budget. The math in this budget does not add up. If signed in its current form, it would destine Pennsylvania to further credit downgrades that we simply cannot afford. On top of that, it would cut education funding by $95 million. As he continues to fight for a 21^st century education, Governor Wolf has released emergency funds to schools and the most vulnerable. By refusing to leave our children in the dust, the Governor is standing up for a stronger future for us all.”
