Philadelphia – April 10, 2018 — Senator Art Haywood (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) is scheduled to host a celebration of the passing of one of his bills this week at the Champlost Homes public housing facility.

On 21 March, the Pennsylvania Senate passed a package of bills protecting and supporting domestic violence survivors that included Senate Bill 919, sponsored by Sen. Haywood, which ensures relocation options to victims of domestic violence who reside in public housing. This bill is also sponsored by Senators Camera Bartolotta (R-Beaver/Washington/Greene) and Judy Schwank (D-Berks).

Most critically, State Senators of both parties worked together on all seven pieces of legislation designed to protect violent crime survivors, including Senate Bill 919.

Senator Haywood will host a press conference and celebration of the passage of SB 919 this Friday, 13 April starting at 2:00 p.m. with the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) at Champlost Homes Community Center, located at 5963 N 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19138. Senator Haywood will give remarks along with Lopa Kolluri, Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Development and Operating Officer at the Philadelphia Housing Authority and advocates for the bill.
