In the past few years several high-profile police-involved shootings have received national media attention and nationwide protests.

In the wake of police shootings of African-American men in Tulsa, Okla., Charlotte, N.C., and elsewhere new protocols regarding police-involved shootings is needed to increase transparency and accountability.

A bill on the use of deadly force sponsored by state Senator Art Haywood, a Democrat legislator serving parts of Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, would do just that and therefore should be supported by state legislators.
