Philadelphia – December 11, 2018 — Yesterday, State Senator Art Haywood and State Representative Steve McCarter co-hosted an event to allow constituents to enroll in affordable healthcare insurance.

“Healthcare is vital for all and this ACA Enrollment event allows neighbors to get answers to their healthcare questions and sign up for affordable insurance,” Senator Haywood said. “Last year, the Commonwealth’s uninsured population decreased and events like this one will ensure a larger decline in uninsured neighbors.”

This event took place on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Oak Street Health in Greenleaf at Cheltenham, formerly Cheltenham Mall, in the Wyncote neighborhood of Montgomery County. Residents were able to attend this free event where they were counseled by insurance providers and healthcare navigators.

“The ACA has proven to be a tremendous step forward in giving millions of Americans access to affordable health care,” said State Rep. Steve McCarter. “I encourage everyone to sign up before the deadline passes.”

These events have taken place throughout the Commonwealth and hundreds of Pennsylvanians have benefitted from the free services offered.

“Open enrollment ends this Saturday, December 15th, and I’m pleased to provide resources that help neighbors in the district gain access to a healthcare plan that is right for them before the deadline.” said Senator Haywood.
