Clean Water in our Homes

In 2014, approximately 70,000 people were affected in Bucks and Montgomery counties where high levels of industrial pollutants polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl (PFASs) were found in their municipal water supplies.

PFAS above 17 but below where 70 detected by Aqua in the spring/summer of 2018 in the North Hills Well and Aidenn Lair, which Aqua took offline in Julio 2018. Locations of concern are areas of Abington, Cheltenham, and Springfield Townships.

Clean Water in our Schools

Sen. Art Haywood became involved in the issue of testing for lead in drinking water after visiting Flint, Michigan in 2016.  Seeing what that community endured, Haywood fought to keep teachers, students and faculty in Pennsylvania schools safe from lead exposure.

That same year, Philadelphia School District’s tests at school water fountains showed lead levels exceeded the school’s limit of 10 parts per billion at fountains across half of its elementary schools, the lowest of which was 250 parts per billion.
