Shredding Event

New Covenant Church of Philadelphia 7500 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., I will host a free shredding event in partnership with New Covenant Church. Anyone can bring two small bags or one box of materials for shredding. No binders, binder clips, or books will be accepted.

The event will be held on the New Covenant campus at 7500 Germantown Avenue. To participate safely, those who arrive will be responsible for removing your items from your car. Wearing a mask is also required.

The COVID 19 vaccine is finally here! Distribution to front line health care workers has begun, and soon it will be available to the general population. To give you more information on the distribution plan and provide an opportunity to have YOUR vaccine questions, I am hosting a virtual townhall with Philadelphia Dept. of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. via Zoom.

Policy Hearing on Raising the Minimum Wage for PA in Honor of MLK Day of Service

At the request of State Senators Art Haywood, Christine Tartaglione, and John Kane the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Policy Committee will hold a virtual public hearing on raising the minimum wage for Pennsylvanians. The hearing in being held on Martin Luther King, Jr’s Day of Service to honor his legacy of fighting for worker’s rights and economic justice.

The hearing is scheduled for Monday, January 18, 2020, at 1 p.m.  It will be livestreamed at SenatorHaywood.com/live and the PA Senate Democratic Caucus Facebook page.

Mentoring Conference

Gun violence in Philadelphia reached record levels in 2020. Victims of gun violence and their advocates, like the Fathering Circle, consistently state that mentoring of at-risk youth is a key prevention solution. On 30 January 2021, we will host our 4th annual Mentoring Conference virtually during National Mentoring Month. This year’s conference will highlight why mentoring matters, teach how to address youth trauma, and propose new mentoring ideas amid COVID-19.
