Harrisburg – December 21, 2018 – Senator Art Haywood (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) announced that the Abington Fire Company has been awarded grant funding to assist with the cost of an equipment upgrade.
“Ensuring that our local emergency responders are suited with the most up-to-date and functional equipment is a priority of mine,” Haywood said. “I am pleased that the Abington Fire Company was approved to receive this grant funding.”
The fire company was approved $300,000 to assist with the purchase of a new 2019 Pierce Ascendant Aerial equipped with a 107-foot ascendant ladder and access to a 500-gallon water tank and pump.
The new equipment will replace the company’s Pierce ladder from 2003.
“Communities rely on properly trained and equipped emergency responders,” Haywood said. “This important upgrade for the Abington Fire Company is essential to providing high-quality emergency assistance to our community.”
