HARRISBURG – June 16, 2015 – State Senator Art Haywood made the following statement after the Pennsylvania Senate voted 49-0 on a bill that would postpone the use of the Keystone Exams as a graduation requirement until 2019:

“I supported and voted for a delay of the Keystone exams as a graduation requirement yesterday, because children should not be deprived of their diplomas due to improper preparation for exams. This legislation will ensure that the necessary time and analysis is taken to adopt a graduation requirement that can be implemented fairly and effectively. I was glad to join a consensus of my colleagues by voting in favor of postponing the Keystone Exam requirement.”
