PHILADELPHIA, March 16, 2015 – State Sen. Art Haywood today released the following statement on integrity:
“In the past year, there have been six African-American legislators from Philadelphia charged with abuse of office. Whether guilty or innocent, these charges by the District Attorney form a dark cloud of doubt over the integrity of our leaders. The trust that residents place in leadership is being eroded.
As legislators, we must restore our citizens’ trust by re-committing to the highest level of integrity. As a newly-elected state senator who just took the oath of office in January, I see clearly the solemn responsibility of legislators to carry out the duties of office to the people with fidelity. Now, more than ever, accountability to constituents is integral to our public service.”
